What If?? England vs Scotland rained out match review

What if rain did not put a damper on the yesterday's clash between England and Scotland at the T20 Cricket World Cup? I think based on the start that Scotland made we would have been in for a cracking match and England would have been made to work very hard to attain victory. The opening pair of George Munsey and Michael Jones gave Scotland a great start and also settled any nerves in the Scottish camp with their intelligent and well timed shots to the boundary. The choice to bat first was a bit odd to me but it turned out to be a great decision.

Before the first rain interruption Scotland were 51 without loss after 5 overs. England's star studded bowling attack were simply spectators in the presence of great batting. Mark Wood did not have any luck breaking the opening partnership, Chris Jordan was taken advantage of. Jofra Archer was welcomed and cheered on by the home crowd but not even his home coming had any affect. England were forced to put Moheen Ali into the attack early on but he could not find the break through they required. Provided there was no rain Scotland could have gone on to post maybe 175 plus runs and could have possibly successfully defended the total but we will never know.

The weather was very bi-polar with start and stop rain interrupting the flow of a great innings. Scotland did eventually post a total of 90 without loss but only after a reduction in overs with te game being amended to a 10 overs. The match had to be called off with both teams sharing the spoils. It is tough to not feel for Scotland they did start the game off very well and showed that they are here to contest and compete with the best. Once again, England are still searching for victory against European opposition at a T20 world cup. Scotland's next match is against Namibia on Thursday 6th June at Kensington Oval Barbados. Meanwhile England take on Australia on Saturday June 8th at Kensington Oval.

What if this tournament was not held during the rainy season?
