Fulham have completed the transfer of attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe (24) from Arsenal. The young Englishman was officially announced as a Cottager today {@FulhamFC} and Gooners across the globe mourned in unison.
Having previously held the number 10 shirt, Smith Rowe was very highly touted by Arsenal fans. Some saw him as the future of the club, a player who may go on to become one of their very best homegrown talents, alongside other gems such as Bukayo Saka. Unfortunately for Emile however, his time at the Emirates has been cut short. Two injury riddled seasons found Smith Rowe struggling to get back into the title challenger’s starting lineup, with him playing just 34 games and registering only 4 assists across them both {transfermarkt}. Sadly, a fair assumption to make would be that these struggles would continue and he would simply not be someone that Mikel Arteta could rely on when needed.
Despite this, ESR remains a player beaming with talent and Fulham’s head coach Marco Silva wanted that talent in his squad. Smith Rowe has shown multiple times that he is a Premier League level player and can therefore definitely be a very impactful signing for the Cottagers if he manages to stay fit.
Emile is listed as a midfielder on FPL, costing just £5.5 million. This makes him a decent enabler, sitting below the popular £6.5 million price point, with potential to become a great differential pick. Whether he will start over the likes of Andreas Pereira, Willian or Amada Traoré we are yet to see, but if he secures consistent minutes under Marco Silva he could become a very good cheap option.
As soon as he breaks into the Fulham team I'm bringing esr in my fpl
